This week at the Jenkins'

Jacob and Kaci performed with the SSHS concert band this week in UIL contest. The band won sweepstakes for the 3rd year in a row!!!

Manuel reads the announcements in Sunday School and tells a joke (to carry on Bro. Tommy Starrett's tradition)

Joshua is really learning to do alot of gymnastics on the trampoline. There is so much more he has a passion to do but his body isn't capable right now.

Allergies hit us hard this week!!! Manuel, Angie and Joshua all three went to the doctor. Jacob has been fortunate to not have this problem.

We have planning for a busy weekend: Friday night Sunday School party at our house, Joshua's kids birthday party on Sunday afternoon, AWANA awards night at church Sunday, Snack and Yak after church Sunday night and Joshua's family birthday party on Monday. Monday is his birthday and he will be 9 years old.

I read this devotion today on testimonies:

In his second letter to Timothy, Paul offers a message to believers of every generation when he writes, "God has not given us a spirit of timidity" (1:7). Paul's meaning is crystal clear: When sharing our testimonies, we, as Chrisitians, must be courageous, forthright and unashamed.

We live in a world that desperately needs the healing message of Christ Jesus. Every believer, each in his or her own way, bears responsibility for sharing the Good News of our Savior. It is important to remember that we bear testimony through both words and actions. Wise Christians follow the admonition of St. Francis of Assisi who advised, "Preach the gospel at all times and, if necessary, use words."

If you are a believer in Christ, you know how He has touched your heart and changed your life. Now is the time to share your testimony with others. So, as you make plans for the coming day, look for ways to preach the Gospel with your words and your deeds...but not necessarily in that order.

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.
Colossians 4:5 NIV

Not much new around here. Joshua is ready for school to be out. He doesn't want to go "to jail" as he calls it. Instead of hearing "I don't want to go to school" during school year, I will get to hear "I'm bored" during the summer. This year is passing by so fast. The older I get, life seems to pass by so much faster. Have a blessed day!

Spending

I will share some of my devotion I read today. This one was written just for me.

Are you continually running out of money before you run out of month? What do you do when this happens? Take away from your savings or charge your purchases? If you charge, are you able to pay off in full the next month whatever you charged? If you keep running out of money, you're not living within your means, and you're not trusting God to meet your needs. The Bible tells us, "My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). Learn discipline and practice denial. Portion out your money every month. Don't spend beyond your income; then you can hold God to His promise. And just watch how He takes care of you - better than you could possibly take care of yourself!

Thank you, Lord, for Your promise to supply all my needs. Forgive me for my lack of faith, for my tendency to get ahead of You and purchase things You've not provided for. Help me distinguish my needs from my wants and trust You to supply both as You see fit.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I now plan to update weekly instead of daily. These past few weeks have been busy. I went to the doctor today for my EMG. I have slight carpel tunnel in right wrist. I will wear a wrist sling for 6 weeks at night. If isn't completely better at that time, I will wear 24/7 until completely clears up. As far as my neck and back and numbness, this is caused from some slight disc problems. He referred me to a pain management specialist which he feels will clear this up. Good news: none of my problems are bad enough for surgery.
